::I booked on Expedia, when I showed up they asked me how much I paid for the room, then said that they would not have any rooms at that price and were not informed that anyone was checking in. It was not Expedia's fault because when Expedia called them to cancel the reservation they claimed there was a cancelation fee because the room was already paid for. They told me that if I wanted to pay more they had rooms available. On top of that mess, it is not very nice so I would go somewhere else. Also, the lure of A/C is not true. Seriously go somewhere else.

::A 2* quaint hotel with fantastic view of Kigali city and the faraway hills. Very quiet surrounding as its away from the road, and good ambience. Needs to up its ante as far as breakfast spread goes and needs to include more international and Indian dishes in its menu.

::Very mixed feelings about the place. Our initial arrival was almost cause to not stay there. I’m a mzungu and my wife is African. I had her call the day before our arrival to confirm pricing and availability, and to reserve a room. She said herself, husband, and newborn were coming and asked for the entry-level room price of which he stated $45. She also asked about English TV, as we knew most things were in French; he stated there was English TV. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the manager or owner. When I mentioned that we had a reservation, he was very shaken and stuttered on his words asking how much we were told a room was. I told him $45 and he kept saying no no no. In conversation he agreed that he was the one who my wife spoke of but denied the $45 rate. I tried to show him the online booking price of $47 from my phone screenshot. He refused to honor it. I had no internet so I couldn’t even book it. He tried to tell us $80 was the best price. I was ticked and ready to leave. Finally he said he could get us into a room for $60 a night. Also worth noting that we were the only guests in the hotel, it was empty. The room was scrunched but we decided to deal with it. After he left, one of the employees moved us, at their own free will, to a room with a larger bed and a bit nicer. I was very appreciative of that. The staff, outside of that one manager/owner, was extremely friendly. English TV never came, outside of one terrible news channel. I asked repeatedly, 3 days in a row, to different staff about getting English tv, they all said it was available but no one knew how to change it and the owner/manager never surfaced again during our 4 day stay. Breakfast was extremely simple and not so filling; we decided to eat out. The rooms were clean and nice.

::Amaris hotel is situated in a quite area, yet not far from the city centre. Clean and affordable. What I appreciated the most is the kindness of the staff: not the kind of commercial and excessive politeness, but a genuine and discrete care for the customers with a lot of flexibility. Highly recommended!
