  Husband and I stumbled across Al Halal and were welcomed graciously by the warmth of the staff there. Even more, food was very homely - tender pieces of meat and delicious chapatis that are not too thick. What we loved most was their tea! Typically the teas we've been having recently including the African tea at the Marriott hotel are overpowered by ginger but not Al Halal's! Just the right amount of ginger. This is a very local spot and as such the food is incredibly affordable so it's worth stopping by to taste their offerings including meat, cassava, and a banana dish that I am forgetting the name of but looked really good in person.

  Excellent home cooked Rwandan food. We had the meat curry, chapatis, rice, and beans as well as delicious chai. Some of the best chai we've had in Kigali and the best chapatis by far. The beef was tasty as were the beans. Very affordable as well - 5000 rwd comfortably fed two of us. Located just around the corner from the masjid and steps from Ziniya Market.
