This museum is a must see for anyone who wants to understand Rwanda's history from pre-colonization. I highly recommend a stop here!

There is not much here. The focus is only on the German colonial period in Rwanda. There are no artifacts to see just posters that explain the history of the period in German and Kinyarawanda. No English explanations. There is a small reptile collection in the backyard. You can see some nice views from the backyard, I have attached a picture here. Please do not spend time on this place. Just read Wikipedia if you need to be educated on this history of Rwanda.

Good place if you're looking for a history on how Rwanda was founded, the colonisation, the geography of the country and the people. The museum is split into 3 sections: History of Rwanda, natural history (they have a reptile zoo with snakes and a crocodile) and human history (evolution, dinosaurs etc). It takes under an hour to go through all exhibits. When I went (08/2017) it was RWF3000 ($3.56) for students and RWF6000 ($7.12) for adults (note these are prices for foreigners).

As a foreigner the entrance is 6000 RWF which I think is okay. I was guided through the exhibition which most of the time only has posters/banners in German and Kinyarwanda. However, the tour felt a bit rushed. They also have some snakes on display, incl. black mamba and green viper. Overall okay to visit since it is the first residential house build in Kigali at the time.
